Islamabad—The Senate Standing Committee on
Housing and Works here Tuesday summoned Interior
Minister and Inspector General of Police
Islamabad for next meeting over the prolonged
issue of illegal occupation of government owned
residences. The response was prompted after a
report of the sub committee and Minister for
Housing and Works Rehmatullah Kakar acknowledged
that majority of police personnel were illegally
occupying residences and had been using
pressurizing tactics.

Zine EI Abidine Ben Ali won the 2009 Tunisian
Presidential Elections with 89.62% of the votes.
The 2009 Presidential Elections registered
4,737,367 voters, 289,979 among which were cast
by Tunisian residents aboard. Participation rate
in Tunisia reached 89.40% and rose up to 90.25%
with the participation of Tunisian voters
abroad.

another blow to the residents of federal capital
as the civic body has held back the opening of
new residential sectors despite the fact the
capital city is facing worst housing shortage.
Islamabad—Inspector General of Police, Islamabad
Syed Kaleem Imam has appealed the citizens to
avoid making hoax and useless calls to Rescue 15
as such calls can deprive those facing
troublesome situation from urgent assistance.
Reviewing the performance of Rescue 15, he said
Rescue 15 is providing valuable services for the
cause of humanity and helping people come out
from distressed situations. The IGP said that
obnoxious calls affects the performance of
police adversely and thus deprives the needy
from help.
Islamabad—The Higher Education Commission (HEC)
and SAMAA Television are set to sign a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday
which aims to empower the youth in creating,
debating and finding solutions to the increasing
extremism in Pakistan through a documentary
competition.
