Islamabad—Parliamentarians have been urged to
submit applications to the Ministry of Local
Government and Rural Development to identify
development schemes in their respective
constituencies for allocation of development
funds, officials said Sunday. Federal Minister
Abdul Razaq A Thahim has invited applications
under the People’s Works Programmes for the
execution of community based schemes.
Multan—Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU)
Multan has decided to recruit 200 more guards
and began work to instal closed circuit cameras
in the university premises to put in place a
flawless security system. Official sources said
that around 200 new guards will be recruited and
they will be provided training. Parking spaces
will be selected away from campus and patrolling
will be enhanced around departments.
Peshawar—The NWFP Cabinet which met here with
Chief Minister, Amir Haider Hoti in chair to
take a review of law and order situation in
province, has directed all the Commissioners to
submit within a fortnight names of all those
government employees who extended support to
militants so that action could be taken against
them.
Sialkot—Federal Minister for Population Welfare
Dr. Fardous Ashiq Awan has said that the whole
nation was united against the terrorism,
extremism and militancy and the government was
taking the masses into confidence over this
burning issue, as the government was committed
to weed out terrorism from the country. She said
that strengthening of the national economy,
elimination of price hike and lawlessness,
poverty alleviation and establishment of the
durable peace was the top priority of the
present government, as the government was making
all out sincere efforts for the promotion of
sustainable democracy and democratic norms and
values in the country.
Faisalabad—Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Asif
Zafar Cheema Saturday awarded different
punishments to 123 traffic wardens on the
charges of dereliction from duties. According to
police department sources, CTO ordered the
forfeiture of one year service of 10 wardens on
showing negligence during discharging their
duties, issued orders for stoppage of annual
increments of 4 wardens, censured 19 wardens,
imposed fine of Rs 77,000 on 71 wardens and
issued strict warnings to 18 other wardens.
