Lahore—Senior Advisor to Chief Minister, Sardar
Zulfiqar Ali Khosa Wednesday told Punjab
Assembly that none of the educational
institutions in the province was maintaining the
security standards set by the government. He was
responding to a point of order raised by forward
bloc member Dr. Tahir Ali Javed, who observed
that closure of educational institutions was a
matter of great concerns as it would have
adverse impact on our youths’ future. He also
demanded making public the factors which led the
government to take this step.
Lahore—Following government’s directions,
Punjab University here Wednesday suspended
teaching activities till further orders and
closed down its hostels with immediate effect.
The PU Registrar also issued a notification in
this regard. While, the VC Prof Dr Mujahid
Kamran chaired a meeting to review security
arrangements and other issues in the wake of
recent decision to close the campuses and
suspend teaching activities. The meeting
discussed postponement all examinations schedule
up to Sunday (Oct 25).
Lahore—Lahore High Court (LHC)
on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of several
identical Intra Court Appeals (ICA) against
LHC’s earlier verdict for delaying bye-polls in
Punjab ,till Thursday (Oct 22). The counsels for
Punjab Government arguing before the court,
submitted that the prevailing law and order
situation of the country itself a reason to
postpone the bye polls.
Lahore—Provincial Population Welfare Minister
Neelum Jabbar Chaudhry said that abnormal
increase in population growth is one of the
major root causes of problems emerging in the
province. Responding to queries by the members
during ‘Question Hour’ of the Punjab Assembly
session here Tuesday, she said that population
could be brought well under control by utilizing
even limited resources in this connection.

government will effectively take up the issue of
royalty on Ghazi Barotha Dam, Mangla Dam and
Nandipur Dam with Economic Coordination
Committee (ECC) and Inter-Provincial
Coordination Committee (IPCC). Parliamentary
Secretary on Finance, Dr. Akhtar Ali stated this
in response to MPA Chaudhry Javed Ahmed’s query
during ‘Question Hour’ of Punjab Assembly
session here Wednesday.
