Islamabad—Six persons including two female
students were killed and twenty-nine others
injured in twin blasts at International Islamic
University here on Tuesday when two suicide
attackers attacked a women’s cafeteria and a
boys shariah faculty building.
Peshawar—The security forces and the Taliban
militants were reportedly locked in fierce
battle in parts of South Waziristan Agency where
the operation code named Rah-e-Nijat entered
fourth day on Tuesday with both the sides
claiming to have inflicted heavy losses on each
other.
Isalamabad—The authorities concerned have
decided to slash the financial releases to an
average of 30 percent of allocations earlier
earmarked for public sector development projects
in the second quarter till December this year.
Islamabad—All the educational institutions of
Sindh and the NWFP province including Azad
Kashmir will remain closed till October 24
following the bombings at Islamic University of
Islamabad. But, the Punjab government announced
to close indefinitely all the educational
institutions.
Rawalpindi—Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff
Committee (CJCSC), General Tariq Majid stressed
the need to effectively seal the border on
Afghan side to prevent cross border movement and
flow of weapons. He said this while talking to
the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) United Kingdom
(UK) Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Stirrup who
called on him at Joint Staff Headquarters on
Tuesday.
Islamabad—The Supreme Court on Tuesday clubbed a
petition seeking relief under Section 7 of the
NRO with the other petitions regarding the
National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) pending
before the court as the matter was now before
the parliament.
