I REGRET that I have but one life to give for my
country. How often have we found ourselves
infused with such deep all encompassing
patriotism? How often do we repent only the fact
that we are not blessed with many lives so that
all could have been sacrificed for our land? How
many times do we lament not having had the
opportunity to shed our blood to save our
country? Do we find ourselves secretly envying
the martyrs who lay down their lives for that
most noble of all causes, the cause of freedom
of independence? Indeed every Pakistani will own
up to having these feelings, for such
patriotism, such devotion to the soil is in our
very blood.
