Islamabad—The Government has decided to launch
military operation named ‘Rah-e-Nijat’ in South
Waziristan on Sunday night. The military
operation will be completed within two months.
Already in some areas curfew has been clamped.
Islamabad—Minister of State for Law and Justice
laid National Reconciliation Ordinance, 2007
(Ordinance No. LX of 2007) as required under
clause (2) (a) (ii) of Article 89 of the
Constitution read with para 22(vii) of the
Supreme Court’s Judgment, dated 31st July, 2009
before both the Houses of Parliament on Friday.
Peshawar—Within 24 hours terror revisited the
provincial metropolis where yet another suicide
deadly blast this time targeting the CIA
investigation cell in the most sensitive
cantonment area Friday afternoon left at least a
dozen people dead and equal number of others
seriously wounded. Those killed include three
cops, a school going child, retired government
officer and his two daughters while a Deputy
Superintendent of Police is among the injured.
Islamabad—Kerry-Lugar Bill places no condition
on Pakistan and it fully recognizes and respects
Pakistan as sovereign nation. Foreign Minister
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said this while concluding
debate on Kerry Lugar Bill in the National
Assembly on Friday. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza
Gilani and Opposition leader Chaudhary Nisar Ali
Khan were also present in the House on the
occasion.
Islamabad—Pakistan scores fourth position on a
scale of hundred, below Bangladesh and Nepal, in
a global scorecard on the state of hunger
released by ActionAid on the World Food Day here
Friday. The scare card for 51 nations
looks at not just the prevalence of hunger, but
also at what the governments are doing by way of
policy to fight hunger. Pakistan scores 24
points and is ranked 26th on the list.
Islamabad—Pakistan in a smart move has managed
to reduce the biased influence of India among
the people of war-ravaged country – Afghanistan,
as Islamabad has completed the projects of
paramount importance valuing $ 300 to $ 500
million.
