Shahbaz lauds police on foiling terrorists attacks

Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif visited Elite Training School Badian Road Friday and attended Namaz-e-Jannaza of Assistant Sub-Inspector Ghulam Jaffar who had embraced martyrdom during encounter with terrorists. Punjab Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Member Punjab Assembly Col.(R) Shuja Khanzada, Advisor Jehanzaib Burki, Inspector General Police Punjab, Home Secretary and other high ranking police officers were also present.

Taseer urges society to unite against terror

Lahore—Punjab Governor Salman Taseer has urged the society to play its role in exposing the extremist elements and help the government apprehend the anti-state, terrorist elements operating in the guise of Taliban. I believe that they are not Taliban or Mujahideen but mere terrorists and traitors who are involved in subversive activities against the country and playing in the hands of their foreign masters”, he said Friday while talking to the media during his visit to General Hospital to inquire after the injured of the terrorist attacks at Bedian Elite Training Centre.

LHC adjourns ICA hearing on by-polls

Lahore—Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday adjourned the hearing of several identical Intra Court Appeals (ICA) against bye-polls delay till October 20. The Division Bench of the Lahore High Court comprising Justice Umer Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan while hearing the arguments observed that the courts were not senseless to leave the people on the mercy of terrorism for the purpose of elections.

Budget to achieve MDGs: Minister

Lahore—Punjab Population Welfare Minister Neelam Jabbar Chaudhry has said the government has enhanced the health budget to achieve Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Talking to various delegations, she said additional resources had also been provided for protecting people through strengthening of primary healthcare and disease preventive programmes.
