Minister for Industry and Production Mian
Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo told Senate on Friday that
at the moment 930,000 tonnes of sugar is present
in the country urging due to some kind of
disturbance, in distribution shortage of sugar
was witnessed in the country.
Islamabad—Germany has reopened the investment
guarantees for Pakistan which were closed a few
years back. A banking project of worth US$ 20
million has been initiated to be followed by
other projects. Negotiations on renewal of
bilateral Investment Treaty between Germany and
Pakistan are at final stages and New Version is
expected to be signed before the close of this
year, said a press release issued here today.
Peshawar —NWFP Minister for Excise and Taxation
Liaqat Shabab has said that Excise and Taxation
Department has made record recovery , despite
recent wave of insurgency, and achieved 95%
target set for the year 2008-09. Addressing a
press conference at the media centre of
Information Department, the other day, he said
that Rs. 1.3 billion recovery target has been
given by the government and the department made
recovery of Rs. 62 millions which was a record,
keeping in view the precarious law and order
situation in the province.. He said that the
department waived off entertainment Tax to
facilitate the masses, while the procedure of
residential Challan has been simplified by
introducing computer Challan systems.
Islamabad—The prices of daily commodities
have been decreased by Rs 3 to Rs 4 per kg
throughout outlets set up across the country by
Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan, official
said. The spokesman of the corporation, Wajid
Ali Swati told APP here on Friday that the
corporation has reduced the prices of six main
consumed kitchen item by Rs 3 to Rs 4 per kg.
Ulaanbaatar—Ministers at the 8th Ministerial
Conference on Central Asia Regional Economic
Cooperation (CAREC) today endorsed two major
plans to advance cooperation in the region’s
transport, trade and energy sectors. “CAREC is
at work across the region building transport and
energy infrastructure, simplifying border and
trade arrangements, undertaking research on
regional issues, and building networks in
support of cooperation,” ministers said in a
joint statement at the conclusion of the
conference.
