Balochis condemn drone attacks

Ghulam Tahir Situationer

STRONG resentment is prevailing in Balochistan against the threat of drone attacks in Quetta on the false plea that Mullah Omar, his associates are operating from Quetta.

Provincial Assembly has passed unanimous resolution condemning the threat of drone attack. All parties’, provincial government, headed by Nawab Mohammad Aslam Khan Raisani have categorically declared that there is no presence of Taliban leadership in Quetta and elsewhere in the province. They believe there is malafide intention behind the threat of drone attack to destabilize political situation and such designs are aimed to support Indian interference in the province for realizing nefarious designs. The attack is likely to be made in the area which is peaceful and the people and the leadership are united to give positive response to counter such threat.

Senior Provincial Minister Maulana Abdul Wasay has expressed its deep concern and strongly condemned the design of the USA for launching drone attack which would be direct attack on the integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan.

Nawabzada Mir Siraj Khan Raisani while condemning the threat of drone attack in Quetta was critical of the wisdom of the US Administration, which would prove counter-productive and create general hatred among the people against the United States.

Provincial Minister for Revenue Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai pointed out that the basis of the USA for such attack are figment of imagination and the observation of the USA is far from reality regarding the presence of Mullah Omar, his colleagues and al-Qaeda.Mr. Asfandyar Kakar, Minister for Food maintained that drone attack on the province would be treated an act of aggression and violation of the UN Character.

Madam Shama Parveen Magsi, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Information Technology commanding the unstinted support of the Baloch people pointed out there is absolutely no justification for drone attack believing in the heresy intelligence. She maintained that the USA’s claim about the presence of al-Qaeda, Mullah Omar and his followers is ill founded and far from the truth. Begum Parveen Magsi advised the US administration to take the Government in confidence to eliminate the presence of such elements as it is engaged in common objective to counter the terrorism both in Pakistan and Afghanistan for ensuring peace and prosperity.

The security and defence of Pakistan is the fundamental duty of the armed forces of Pakistan and for this purpose the forces have been provided with top level training to acquire maximum professional competence to counter the external and domestic threats to ensure security and its sovereignty. The observation of the Corps Commanders the hardcore reflected the will of the people. The nations abhor such financial assistance as mentioned in the Kerry-Lugar Bill, which undermine the dignity, security and sovereignty of Pakistan.

People from all sections of society have appreciated the stand of Corps Commanders. However, a section of intelligentsia has its reservation with the procedure that is not observed whereas they are in full agreement to voice its concern in the interest of Pakistan.

Political observers maintained that after the dismemberment of Soviet Union there is significant change in the attitude of the US Administration, detrimental to the interest of Pakistan which is dichotomy considering strong ally of USA but a section of the people say it is lip service only.
