Peshawar—The NWFP Assembly on Thursday
unanimously passed a resolution resenting
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s reported
anti-Pukhtoon remarks in the context of
terrorism. A demand seeking apology by the
British was expunged from the original text of
the resolution at the behest of the provincial
government.
Skardu—In
Gilgit-Baltistan all the Returning Officers
published names of the contesting candidates of
Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly on
Thursday for the elections to be held on Nov 12.
Now, the contesting candidates would be allotted
election symbols on Oct 17 by the Returning
Officers. Spokesman of Election Commission
Skardu told APP on Thursday that Elections would
be held in six constituencies of Skardu district
and PPP, PML (N), PML (Q), MQM and independent
candidates are taking part in the elections.
Peshawar—Rejecting Kerry-Lugar Bill, the
Jamaat-i-Islami announced to launch public
referendum against the bill on October 23,
across the country while 1,000 polling stations
will be established in this regard. Speaking at
a news conference at press club here on
Thursday, Jamaat-i-Islami provincial general
secretary Shabir Ahmad Khan said that the
present rulers made the people of the country

Mianchanu—Three persons were
killed and two others received injuries in
separate road accidents here on Thursday.
According to police, with three persons was hit
by a train at Musa work railway crossing about
four kms from the city. Those killed were
identified as Mushtaq Ahmad of Mianwali and
Muhammad Sarwar of Chichawattni. They were
employees of a cell phone company.
