Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz
Sharif has directed administration to take
effective measures on the pattern of big cities
for ensuring supply of sugar at Rs.40/kg in
smaller cities and towns as well. He said
that administration is trying for the provision
of sugar to the masses at the fixed rate but he
is interested only in targets and the efficiency
of the officers will be evaluated in the light
of results in this regard.
Lahore—Senior Provincial Minister and
Parliamentary Leader of PPP in Punjab Assembly,
Raja Riaz Ahmad has said that according to the
decisions of leadership of PPP he desires
success of coalition government in Punjab.
He said that despite various hurdles he is
trying to run government affairs efficiently and
amicably, therefore, Members of Assembly, should
realize the situation and display tolerance and
patience.
Lahore—The women MPAs of PPP and PML-Q in
Punjab Assembly staged a token walked out during
the first day of the 14th session here Monday
against non-provision of developmental fund to
them. On a point of order, the PPP MPA Sagheera
Islam objected that female MPAs were not being
provided with the funds for uplift of their
respective areas, despite the fact the
government had promised to them in this regard.
She walked out of the house in a token protest,
while all other PPP women members followed her.
Meanwhile, the opposition’s female MPAs also
followed the suit.
Lahore—Capital City Police Officer (CCPO),
Muhammad Pervez Rathore, has said that Lahore
Police would take every possible step for
elimination of terrorism and to protect life and
property of the citizens, whereas it is also the
responsibility of every citizen to remain
vigilant and keep a close eye on their immediate
surrounding and inform the police about any
suspicious activity or persons without delay.
Lahore—The Lahore High Court’s (LHC) judgment
of delaying by-election in four constituencies
of the province has been challenged through an
intra court appeal Monday. The appellant,
Muhammad Azhar Siddiq, a contesting candidate
from National Assembly-123, stated in the appeal
that constitutionally, provincial government has
no authority to interfere in the process of
holding election as the Election Commission is
the authority for holding election.
