Peshawar—Terrorism continued to hit the North
West Frontier Province where yet another deadly
blast this time in district Shangla , bordering
Swat District, Monday afternoon left at least 41
people including a dozen men in uniform dead and
over fifty seriously injured. Besides, few
military vehicles were also destroyed in what
the police said a suicide explosion carried out
on a military convoy.
Washington—The International Monetary Fund (IMF)
says that oil importing countries including
Pakistan though moderately affected by
international recession are likely to witness
muted recovery. In a latest survey, the IMF has
come to the conclusion that non oil exporting
countries in the Middle East and Pakistan would
have a GDP growth of around 3.2 percent in 2009
and 3.9 in 2010.
Lahore—The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday,
quashed two cases against Jamaat-ud-Dawa leader
Hafiz Saeed but said he would remain under
house-arrest. The court ruling is likely to
anger India which says the Saeed, was the
mastermind behind last November’s assault on
Mumbai in which 166 people were killed.

when the Legislative Assembly meets on October
15, 2009 on requisition of Muslim Conference (Attique)
to debate a no-confidence motion tabled on
Monday in the assembly secretariat against AJK
prime minister Sardar M Yaqub Khan who has
completed a few days above nine months in power
with a 4-party parliamentary coalition.
Islamabad—President Asif Ali Zardari has said
that the United States and Pakistan need to work
together to alleviate the concerns being
expressed in certain quarters in Pakistan about
some of the provisions of the Kerry-Lugar Bill.
