Islamabad—Pakistan and Morocco ratified the
agreement for the ‘Avoidance of Double Taxation
and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion’ which was
signed between the two countries in May 2006 in
Rabat, Morocco with an aim to promote bilateral
trade and commerce.
Islamabad—Rod Morris, Vice President of
Insurance, OPIC, USA, has arrived Pakistan on a
weeklong visit to explore ways and means for
investment in Pakistan. In this regard, IGI, a
general insurance company of the country has
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with
Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC)
USA, vowing to work together to insure US
investment in Pakistan against Political Risks.
Islamabad—National Assembly was told Thursday
that recent tariff increase in electricity is
not applicable to agri sector and 5.5 million
other consumers. Minister for Water and Power,
Raja Pervez Asharf told the House that despite
increase in tariff, these two areas have already
been exempted.
