CM for activation of Public Safety, Complaint Commission

Peshawar—NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has said Police Force of the province is taming insurgency in a great deal of difficult and intricate circumstances, however, there is a need of activating the Provincial Public Safety and Complaint Commission and making it effective for the eradication of crimes and public complaints regarding the police. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of Provincial Public Safety and Complaint Commission here at his office on Wednesday.

AIGR to award researchers for high achievements

Peshawar—The Academia Industry Government Roundtable (AIGR); a newly constituted organization in NWFP in its 2nd meeting held under the chairmanship of NWFP Governor, Owais Ahmed Ghani on Wednesday has decided to hold contest to Award researchers for their best research achievements in industrial sector shortly. The Governor who is patron of the organization, declared to host the award ceremony at Governor’s House, Peshawar.

WFP suspends distribution in Malakand

Peshawar—World Food Program (WFP) office Islamabad has suspended the food distribution among IDPs in various parts of Malakand Divison due to the bomb blast occurred at its Islamabad office on Oct 5. WFP has been distributing food items in the war-affected area of tehsil Kabal (Swat), through its implementing partner, Society for Skills Trainings and Development (SSTD), but now the distribution process is being postponed as per directives of WFP.

NWFP PA to debate on Kerry Lugar bill

Peshawar—The NWFP Assembly Wednesday admitted an adjournment motion to hold detailed discussion on Kerry Lugar Bill aimed at providing US aid to Pakistan. The motion was submitted by MPA Barrister Javed Abbasi of PML(N) who requested the chair to allow him to raise the issue as it of much importance.

4th anniversary of October 8 earthquake today

Shinkiari—The fourth anniversary of the killer earthquake of October 8, 2005 would be held on Thursday. Quran Khwani would be held in District Mansehra, Battagram and Kohistan areas for those who lost their lives in the devastating earthquake. Various events have been arranged at schools and other areas to mark the day and collective prayers would be held for the affectees.
