Lahore—A Chinese delegation led by former foreign minister, Li Zhaoxing met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at CM Secretariat here Sunday. Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan Luo Zhaohui, Senior Advisor Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Senator Pervez Rashid, MNA Khawaja Muhammad Asif and PML-N leader Iqbal Zafar Jhagra were also present.

Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that teachers play a pivotal role in the education and character-building of the young generation and like other religions Islam has also given a high status to teachers in the society. He said that only teachers can bring a mental revolution and change in the society while no programme of educational reforms or promotion of quality education can succeed without the help of teachers.

Dengue virus can reproduce in thin water film

Lahore—Dengue virus carrying Mosquito Aedies Egypti, has the ability to reproduce in a very thin water film of fresh water, as thin as one rupee coin.  This was stated by Pakistan Medical Society (PMS) Chairman Dr. Masood Akhtar Sheikh while addressing the meeting of the society, held in connection with the “Dengue Virus Painting competition” for creating public awareness about this controllable disease.

Two kidnappers arrested

Lahore—Sattu katla police have arrested two accused involved in abducting a teenaged boy for ransom and recovered abducted boy safe and sound. According to police, Navidul Hassan (17) son of Kulsoom Ra’ana resident of Nespak society had been abducted for ransom on September 29 when he was standing outside his house. After sometime, his mother received a call by the accused demanding Rs 600,000 as ransom for the release of the boy and threatened to kill him.

Crackdown against fake witnesses, touts

Lahore—Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Muhammad Pervez Rathore has directed the Lahore Police for large scale crackdown against fake witnesses, guarantors and touts in provincial metropolis. He said that fake witnesses, guarantors and touts are a big hurdle in the way of justice, as notorious criminals are released on bail through them and consequently pose dire threat to the life and property of the people.
