Shortage of Jet fuel at Karachi airport

Islamabad—There is going to be shortage of jet fuel at Karachi airport due to shut down of Pakistan Refinery Limited from October 5 for ten days. A similar situation arose a few months whereby PIA and other airlines flights were delayed and scheduled disrupted due to dry out situation at the Eastern Joint Hydrant Depot at Jinnah International Airport.

Asia leads recovery, but painful transition ahead

Monitoring Report

ASIA may be leading the global economic recovery, but it could face a period of slower growth and rising unemployment in coming years as it transitions from exports to domestic demand, the International Monetary Fund said on Sunday. Governments will have to prop up their economies for much longer than in past economic crises if they wish to avoid another downturn in 2010 or 2011, the IMF said.

Saudi urges US to sell Citigroup stake

Istanbul—Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a big investor in Citigroup (C.N), urged the U.S. government to sell its stake in the bank as soon as this year to boost investor confidence, Emerging Markets magazine reported. “The earlier the U.S. government exits its investments in those companies, the better,” as long as the withdrawal is not done in a way that hurts the prices of U.S.

NEPRA expresses dissatisfaction over HESCO’s performance

Staff Reporter

Islamabad—A hearing was held in National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) at its office in Islamabad for determination of tariff for the first quarter 2009-10 for Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO). The Petitioner (HESCO) had requested for an increase in tariff for the first quarter from Rs. 10.97 to Rs. 11.52 per unit.

Fisheries deptt to provide research facilities

Lahore—With a view to promote fisheries and aquaculture in the country, the fisheries Department Punjab is providing state-of-the-art on job training and research facilities to the fisheries departments of other provinces. These views were expressed by Director General Fisheries Punjab Dr. Muhammad Ayub while speaking at the inaugural session of training course for officers of Department of Fisheries Baluchistan at Fisheries Research and training Institute Manawan Lahore.
