Govt realizes repercussions of Fata operation: Hoti

Peshawar—NWFP Chief Minister, Amir Haider Hoti Tuesday said that government realizes repercussions of Waziristan operation on NWFP and measures are being taken for providing relief to the affected people besides preempting any untoward happening.

National games not to shift from Peshawar

Peshawar—The NWFP Minister for Sports, Culture and Tourism, Syed Aqil Shah has said that the 31st National Games will not be shifted from Peshawar and will be held here as per schedule. This, he said, while presiding over an emergency meeting of the NWFP Olympic Association here last night. Representatives from all the sports associations attended the meeting.

MPs asked to submit assets’ detail

Peshawar—Mr. Justice (R) Hamid Ali Mirza, Chief Election Commissioner has drawn attention of Members of the Parliament and Provincial Assemblies to submit to the Election Commission by September 30 yearly statements of assets and liabilities of their own, their spouses and dependents. This is a mandatory requirement under section-42A of the Representation of the People Act, 1976 and Section-25A of the Senate (Election) Act, 1975.

Police net 174 outlaws

Peshawar—In a crackdown against outlaws here, city police have arrested 174 offenders including 64 suspects from various locations and recovered arms and narcotics from their custody. According to a police press release issued on Tuesday, in an on-going operation against offenders in various areas of the city, police have netted a total of 174 criminals and seized three rifles, two kalakoves, 14 pistols and hundreds of cartridges.

Mirpur —Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Qamar Zaman Kaira will inaugurate radio,FM-93 here on September, 30. Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), President, Raja Zulqarnain Khan will preside over the ceremony.
