Owais warns
mischief makers of stern action
Peshawar—Governor NWFP Owais Ahmad Ghani has
said that the law and order situation has
improved remarkably in the Province during the
last few months and spelled out the actions
taken by the government and law enforcing
agencies against criminal and terrorist
elements. The Governor said that as the result
of the concrete steps taken by the law enforcing
agencies the security situation had improved
significantly and reiterated the government’s
resolve to take on all mischievous elements
strictly and hoped for more achievements in the
days to come. |

Fresh facilities
for prisoners in Sindh
Larkana—Sindh Minister for Prisons, Haji
Muzaffar Ali Shujrah talking to newsmen at
Larkana Press Club here said the government was
planning to recognize and provide for conjugal
rights of the prisoners, as has been practiced
in Iran and other countries. He said it would be
kicked off from Central Prison Karachi and one
day in a week would be fixed for the purpose. |

transmissions to go on air on Sept 30
Mirpur—The transmissions of first state-run
FM-93 radio in Azad Kashmir’s largest model city
of Mirpur will formally go on air after its
formal inauguration on September 30, official
sources said. According to the program, Federal
Minister for Information and Broadcasting, KANA
and Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar Zama
Kaira will perform the opening ceremony of FM-93
at the broadcasting house of Azad Kashmir Radio
Mirpur, the sources told APP here on Thursday.
AJK President Raja Zulqarnain Khan will preside
over the function, being held to celebrate the
7th anniversary of Azad Kashmir Radio Mirpur the
same day as well. Director General Pakistan
Broadcasting Corporation Murtaza Solangi and
Director Programs PBC, besides other senior
officials of the organization will also grace
the occasion through their presence. |

IGP decorates DPO
Peshawar—The IGP NWFP Malik Naveed Khan
decorated DPO Nowshera Nisar Ahmad Tanoli on his
promotion to grade 19 by pinning badges on his
shoulders in an investiture ceremony held at CPO
Peshawar on Thursday. Additional IGP
Headquarters, Abdul Majeed Marwat and PSO to IGP,
Qazi Inam-ur-Rehman were also present on this
occasion. The IGP expressed full confidence and
satisfaction over the performance of Nisar Ahmad
Tanoli by saying that he is the competent
officer to carry higher responsibility and
achieve more success ahead in his service. |

Waqas for watch
towers at beaches
Staff Reporter
Karachi—CM’s Advisor on Inspection, Enquiries
and Implementation, Waqas Malik has underlined
the need for placement of watch towers and life
guards at beaches to save the lives of
picnickers. He said the concerned
department would be approached in this regard so
that the lives of picnickers can be saved on
beaches in case of emergency. He was of the view
that Gadani tragedy could have been averted had
watch towers and lifeguards were there in place. |
