Govt focusing on IT promotion: Shahbaz

Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that promotion of Information Technology is the need of the hour and government is implementing a comprehensive strategy in this regard.  He said that an IT Park equipped with the latest facilities will be set up for the promotion of information technology in the province and maximum facilities would be offered to private sector engaged in this sector. He expressed his displeasure over the delay in the completion of IT Centre at Ferozpur Road and said that it has resulted in additional burden of one billion rupees to the government. He ordered immediate implementation of the project as no further delay would be tolerated.

Lahore police prepare POs list

Lahore—The Capital City Police Lahore have prepared a comprehensive list of Proclaimed Offenders (POs) and Court Absconders (CAs), involved in cases registered in Lahore, but who are residents of regions outside Lahore. In a memorandum, written by the Capital City Police Officer Lahore (CCPO), Muhammad Pervez Rathore, to five IGs and nine Regional Police Officers (RPOs), he has pointed out that the criminals mentioned in the list have been operating in the provincial metropolis for the last so many years and, despite best efforts, they are still at large and engaged in criminal activities, both in Lahore and their concerned region. Letters have been written to the Inspectors General of Police of Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, Sindh, Balochistan, NWFP and Regional Police Officers of Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, D.G Khan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Sargodha in this regard.

Training programme for intending Hajis

Lahore—The programme for training of intending Hajis under Government hajj scheme is starting from September 29 during which they would also be vaccinated against meningitis and administered polio drops.
According to Hajj Directorate Lahore sources, the programme will start from Sheikhupura where it will be held at Municipal Committee Hall from September 29 while in Lahore it will be held from October 10 to 17 at Sama Hall Data Darbar. The training programmes are being arranged by Ministry of Religious Affairs at district and tehsil level.

Medical entry test
Girls constitute 69.75 pc of total candidates


Lahore—Female candidates constitute 69.75 per cent of the total 21,489 candidates who will appear simultaneously in pre admission computerised multiple choice question entry test for MBBS first year on September 27 at various 13 centres in 12 cities across the provinces. Vice Chancellor, University of Health Sciences (UHS) Punjab, Prof Malik Hussain Mubbasshar told APP here Thursday that nearly 8.58 per cent of total candidates will contest for one each seat against 2479 vacant seats in all the medical colleges for admission to MBBS and dental institutions in the Punjab province.

Kaira visits PTV Lahore Centre

Lahore—Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira Thursday visited Pakistan Television (PTV) Lahore Centre and took round of different sections and studios.Talking to the employees on the occasion, the minister appreciated their efforts for presenting informative, recreational, educational and political programmes. He directed the management to set up a PTV museum and a library to highlight different historical aspects of the Lahore centre.
