launched
Interest free loans for self-employment: Zardari

Islamabad—President Asif Ali Zardari has
launched Waseela-e-Haq initiative under Benazir
Income Support Programme envisaging interest
free loan of three thousand rupees for
self-employment. Launching the programme along
with Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani here
Tuesday, the President expressed the confidence
that it will go a long way in emanicipation of
women and bringing the poor out of poverty net.
He directed the government to give duty free
access to the beneficiaries of this programme to
buy any product to earn their livelihood. |

Mohammad Mansha who owns the MCB Bank because of
its flat refusal to provide any solace to
government in erasing the monster of circular
debt in energy sector, a senior official at

friendship vital for security, economic
development: President
Supports Beijing efforts for harmony in Xinjiang
Islamabad—President Asif Ali Zardari has said
that during the last one year Pakistan and China
have identified more than 50 new initiatives for
joint collaboration and signed more than three
dozen MoUs. This he said during an interview
with Guangming Daily, one of the largest
newspapers of China at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday.
He said that the world admires the all round
development China has achieved. Being a
longstanding friend, Pakistan is naturally keen
to learn from the Chinese experience. However,
the extent and depth of our political and
diplomatic relations have not been fully
reflected in our economic ties. |

7 Nawaz to contest NA 123 Observer Report
Islamabad—Former Prime Minister and PML-N Quaid
Mian Nawaz Sharif will be contesting elections
from NA-123 in the upcoming by-elections. Chief
Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (Retd) Hamid
Mirza has issued directives to hold by-elections
on November 7 on all the vacant seats of
national and provincial assemblies saying it was
mandatory to hold by-polls within 60 days under
the constitution. The polling for the
by-elections will be held in five
constituencies. |

LHC postpones Dr Khan’s case hearingStaff

Lahore—The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday
delayed further hearing a plea from nuclear
scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan for alleged security
restrictions to be lifted. Khan’s lawyer Ali
Zafar said the hearing was delayed until further
notice because one of the judges failed to
attend a scheduled session. |

concerned over activities of Black Water

Islamabad—National Assembly Standing Committee
on Interior has expressed concern over the
alleged activities of US security agency ‘Black
Water’ in Pakistan, negligence of senior
officers in recently made promotions and
formation of tribal lashkar against Taliban in
tribal areas including Swat and Punjab. The
committee observed that such steps by the
government would further aggravate the law and
order situation of the country. |

as Governor Gilgit-Baltistan
LA elections on Nov 12Gilgit—Minister for
Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas (KANA) and
Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira
on Tuesday evening took oath as the first
Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan here.Chief Judge
Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court Justice Muhammad
Nawaz administered the oath to the governor.
Earlier, Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Babar
Yaqub read out the Presidential Order for this
