Trees chopping
mars Balochistan’s environs
Quetta—Influential persons have been continuing
chopping down trees along roads and from
official forests without any permission by the
government while such activity is badly damaging
environment of Balochistan. APP learnt on Monday
that highways and roads running throughout
Balochistan and official forests have deprived
of most of their trees which had been existing
for last 40 to 60 years as influential persons
have chopped thousands of such trees and minted
huge money by selling them. In past, there was a
line of Joneepar forests from Ziarat to Kalat
through Quetta but now Quetta has deprived of

President wants
speedy uplift in Gilgit-Baltistan: Mehdi
Skardu—President of Pakistan and Co-
Chairperson of PPP Asif Ali Zardari, has given
instructions to the concerned quarters to
prepare a comprehensive plan to accelerate
developmental activities in Gilgit-Baltistan.
This was stated by President PPP
Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Mehdi Shah while
addressing a press conference here. He informed
that recently a 20-member delegation, led by him
met President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr
Islamabad.The President on the occasion said
that first ever reforms were introduced by the
then great leader of PPP, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali

convention of IDPs on 27th

Peshawar—Former senior Jamaat-e-Islami (JI)
Siraj-ul-Haq has said that his party has decided
to hold a grand convention of the IDPs
(Internally Displaced Persons) on Sept 27 to
attract the attention of internally community
towards the actual situation being faced by the
affected people in the aftermath of the military
operation Malakand Division. To hold such
a grand convention at Islamabad in order to
apprise the international community regarding
the real situation of IDPs after the military

completion of Dhangali Bridge
Mirpur—The Chief Secretary of Azad Jammu
Kashmir Khalid Sultan here Sunday directed the
concerned authorities including WAPDA to
accelerate the development works in the
under-construction New Mirpur garden city and
four new small towns exclusively meant for the
affected people of the ongoing Mangla dam
raising project. The CS particularly called for
the timely completion of the construction work
on Rs 1091 million Dhan Gali Bridge over Poonch

SDA demands action
against sugar crisis creators Staff

Peshawar—President Sugar Dealers Association (SDA)
has demanded of the government to take action
against the Sugar Mills Association (SMA) for
creating artificial sugar crisis for their own
benefits. “The mills owners have deliberately
hoarded sugar aimed to mint more and more
money,” accused Shakirullah, the president of
the SDA during a news conference at press club
on Monday. The masses of NWFP are facing
sugar crisis, which was artificially created by
the mills owners to hoard the product and then
sell it at their own prices. The dealers also
accused the retailers of selling the sugar at
double price while the dealers sell it at the
