Elected PML-N’s COC Chief; Auxiliaries dissolved

Murree—Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has been
elected as Chairman of the Central Organizing
Committee (COC) of Pakistan Muslim League (N).
The decision was taken at the joint meeting of
the Central Executive Committee, Central
Parliamentary Party and district office bearers
of the party in Murree. Mian Nawaz Sharif

Zardari signs
Gilgit-Baltistan self-governance order

Islamabad—President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday
signed the Gilgit–Baltistan (Empowerment and
Self-Governance) Order 2009 aimed at introducing
far reaching administrative, political,
financial and judicial reforms in Northern
Areas. The President congratulated the people of
Gilgit and Baltistan on the realisation of yet
another dream of emancipation. He said that he
was happy that the PPP government and reforms in
Northern Areas were interlinked recalling the
previous reforms in 1975 and again in 1994. |

London—Three British Muslims were convicted
Monday of plotting to murder thousands by
downing at least seven airliners bound for the
US and Canada in what was intended as the
largest terrorist attack since Sept 11. A jury
