Traders to support
PIAF Founders Alliance

Lahore—The traders of Urdu Bazar and Ganpat Road
have voiced their support for the PIAF-Founders
Alliance in the LCCI elections 2009-10. The
announcement was made during an Iftar hosted by
Anjuman-e-Tajran Urdu Bazar President Khalid
Pervez in honor of PIAF-Founders Alliance

Oil stays below
$69
Singapore—Oil was up in Asian trade Thursday
but stayed below 69 dollars amid worries about
the pace of the global economic recovery,
analysts said. New York’s main contract, light
sweet crude for October delivery was 62 cents
higher at 68.67 dollars a barrel. Brent North
Sea crude for October delivery added 28 cents to
67.94 dollars a barrel. Data released Wednesday
by the US Department of Energy (DoE) |

Australia
concerned over global economy
Sydney—Australia said Thursday it remained
“deeply concerned” about the global economy and
could not rule out a double-dip recession, with
European toxic assets and US debt still an
issue. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said the global
economy was “not out of the woods yet”, with the
prospect of a long and challenging recovery. |

ECB raises growth
forecasts, keeps rates on hold
Frankfurt—The European Central Bank (ECB) left
interest rates on hold Thursday at their
historic low of 1 per cent, but raised its
growth and inflation forecasts for the 16-member
eurozone amid signs that the recession is
drawing to an end. Up until now, the ECB has
been projecting negative growth in the currency

to develop engineering industry
Karachi—Engr. M.A. Jabbar, Chairman of SITE,
the biggest industrial estate of Pakistan has
urged that Engineering Development Board (EDB)
should be fully exploited to cover objectives of
developing engineering industry in the country.
The Government should consider providing full
policy support and resources to remove the
existing constraints faced by EDP in extending
