PPP-AJK seeks joint stand on Gilgit-Baltistan

Muzaffarabad—President PPP-AJK Chaudhry Abdul Majeed has asked all the political parties of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to adopt a unanimous stance over Gilgit-Baltistan package during their meeting with Pakistan’s foreign office on Friday. ‘The heads of all political parties of Azad Kashmir have been invited by Pakistan’s foreign office on Friday to give a briefing to them and I request them all to take a common stand on the package. The message from our side should be that we are supportive of the package,’ he said addressing a press conference here on Thursday. LEAs put on high alert

Quetta—Law enforcement agencies were put on high alert in the provincial capital after the hand grenade attack on a police vehicle at Jinnah Road on Wednesday in which about six persons including four policemen suffered serious injuries. APP learnt on Thursday that personnel of Quetta police and Frontier Corps Balochistan have been deployed at 250 points in and around the provincial capital, particularly at entry and exit points. Close circuit cameras have been installed at all the important official buildings and sensitive spots.

Importance of water management

Hyderabad—The Pro-Vice Chancellor, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Dr. Muhammad Aslam Uqaili has suggested adoption of effective water management so that the available water could be utilized for maximum area under crop cultivation. The Pro-Vice Chancellor emphasized this while speaking as chief guest at the concluding session of two day long training course on “The use of latest method of irrigation”, organized by the Institute of Irrigation and Drainage Mehran University at Jamshoro on Thursday.
