Owais emphasizes
purposeful utilization of research studies
Peshawar—The 12th meeting of the Board of
Governor’s of Institute of Management Sciences
Hayatabad (IMS) was held here Thursday with NWFP
Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani in the chair wherein
the working of the institute was reviewed in
detail. The meeting noted with satisfaction, the
tremendous achievements of the Institute both in
respect of academic pursuits as well as
infrastructure development and appreciated the
performance of the management. The meeting also
approved the budgetary estimates for the Year,
2009-10 and the actual budget for the Year,
2008-9 of the Institute |

110832 IDPs
families returned
Peshawar—Emergency Response Unit (ERU) Thursday
here informed that a total of 110832 internally
displaced families from Swat, Buer and Dir Lower
Districts have been repatriated so far while the
rest would be sent back before the holy month of
Ramazan. Talking to APP the spokesman of ERU
said that 1557 families have been sent back to
their native areas in Swat and Buner areas on
Wednesday from Jalozai camp in Nowshera
district. |

VC stresses
education for development
Sukkur—Vice Chancellor (VC), Shah Abdul Latif
University (SALU) Khairpur, Dr Neelofer Shaikh
has said that education is a must to properly
capitalise the country’s existing human
resources for a better and prosperous Pakistan.
“We have to educate our people if we want to
prosper, this she said while addressing an award
distribution ceremony on Thursday. She said that
like Indonesia, China and Malaysia, Pakistan too
has great human resource potential, however,
there was a dire need that they were groomed
through proper education and education,
particularly to the youth. |

Preparations afoot
to celebrate ID in AJK
Mirpur (ajk)—A high level official meeting here
Thursday inked series of programs to be held on
August 14 to celebrate the 62nd Independence Day
of Pakistan across the district in a befitting
manner. Deputy Commissioner Ch. Muhammad Tayyeb
chaired the meeting. Major national flag
hoisting ceremony will be held at the town
(Municipal Corporation) simultaneously with the
nation-wide national flag hoisting programs.
Heads of various nation-building departments
including Secretary state-run National Events
Organizing Committee Altaf Hamid Rao attended
the meeting. |

Aasiya complains
of torture in Jammu jail
Srinagar—The police have presented the
chairperson of Dukhtarani Millat, Aasiya Andrabi,
before the High Court here. Aasiya complained
that she was “tortured” in Jammu jail and the
authorities were not allowing her to discharge
her religious duties. |
