ICCI appeals for immediate restoration of IHC

Islamabad—Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) has appealed to the parliament for immediately passing a legislation or making amendment in ordinance to urgently restore the Islamabad High Court (IHC) as its abolition has created problems for residents of Islamabad including business community. Mian Shaukat Masud, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) said Islamabad High Court (IHC) was proving highly beneficial for people as it was providing them speedy justice. He said this while exchanging views with a delegation of Islamabad High Court Bar Association who called on him at ICCI led by its President Sajjad Afzal Cheema.

Naek for closer economic ties with Turkmenistan

Islamabad—Terming the signing of protocol between Turkmenistan and Pakistan for supply of gas as an encouraging development on the economic front, Chairman Senate Farooq H. Naek has called for similar arrangement with regard to supply of electricity from Turkmenistan to Pakistan to overcome the current shortage in the country. He was talking to the Ambassador of Turkmenistan and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Mr. Sapar Berdiniyazov, who called on him at the Parliament House on Thursday.

Rs. 2.33b OPF budget announced

Substandard services: Popularity of Telenor dips down

Islamabad—Telenor Pakistan has failed to attract masses due to its deceiving policies and inferior quality of service which has turned man on the street indifferent to it inflicting huge financial losses and threatening its survival. Telenor Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd., a subsidiary of Telenor ASA, the Norwegian mobile telephone operator acquired the license for providing GSM services in Pakistan in April 2004, and had launched its services commercially in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi on 15 March 2005.
