Lahore—President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime
Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani taking serious
notice of power load shedding have directed the
Ministry of Water and Power to provide proper
power supply to industrial sector on top
priority and ensure well planned load shedding
in all important commercial areas across the
country.
Islamabad—The government has prepared a
comprehensive plan to include additional
electricity of 3,161 MW in the system by the end
of December 2009 to overcome power supply and
demand gap.
Islamabad—Flora model farms are being
established in various cities of the country
with the support of PHDEB on around 1000 acres
land to promote export oriented flowers industry
aimed at earning millions of dollars per annum
by increasing export to UAE, Saudi Arabia and
European Union beside others.
Islamabad—The government will provide foolproof
security to contractors, consultants and the
work force at the site of Diamer Bhasha Dam
project and all possible steps are being taken
for this purpose. Federal Minister for Water and
Power, Raja Pervez Ashraf said while talking to
APP regarding the issue of security for
contractors and others at Bhasha Dam project
being constructed in the area of NWFP and
Northern Areas.
Islamabad—Government has declared year 2009 as
the year of industrial revival, but federal
budget 2009-10 did not spell out any detailed
plan to revive industrial sector including
textile industry. The government should work out
a special package for the quick revival of
textile industry, which was the backbone of
exports. Mian Shaukat Masud, President,
Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI)
demanded this in a statement here Sunday.
