Islamabad—An American soldier missing in Afghanistan since June 30
is under the custody of Jallaluddin Haqqani’s faction of
“Mujahideen” and safe.
According to a reliable source the missing U.S. soldier and three
Afghan government security men were kidnapped by a faction of Afghan
Taliban who were later handed over to the Haqqani’s group now led by
Jallaluddin’s son Sirajuddin Haqqani. Afghan Taliban sources claimed
that the American and Afghan soldiers were drunk and unable to
resist when they were kidnapped by insurgents roaming the area.
An Afghan Taliban commander Moulvi Sangeen was quoted as saying that
the American soldier was picked up when he was roaming in the area
drunk and was not in a position to resist in the Yousaf Khel
district.
Informed sources say that negotiations for the release of the
American soldier were underway and it is possible that a negotiated
deal may be reached.
Meanwhile Afghan Taliban now calling themselves as “Afghan
Mujahideen” claimed Friday to have killed “atleast 52 American”
soldiers in frenzy battles in Helmand when the U.S. Marines launched
their attack on Taliban stronghold. The Afghan Mujahideen claimed
that “frenzy firefighting” has continued between Mujahideen and the
American invaders in Afghan areas of Helmand province.”
The report claimed that on Thursday morning “Mujahideen detonated
remote controlled landmines targeting Americans in Khalaj area in
Nawa district of Helmand province. In the landmine blasts eleven
invader were killed and some were wounded. There were no
confirmations of the Taliban claims which are usually regarded as
inflated by foreign forces in Afghanistan.
Afghan Taliban also claimed that “three tanks of British army were
destroyed and 9 British soldiers were killed”.
