Bloody clashes continue in SW
Dozens of militants killed, 16 soldiers martyred

Peshawar—Fierce bloody clashes between the insurgents and the security forces were reported in South Waziristan Agency (SWA) and volatile Swat where dozens more miscreants were reported killed while 4 more soldiers, injured in militants ambush on a military convoy in NWA on Sunday evening, succumbed to their injuries in CMH taking the death toll to 16. Likewise at least three civilians were reported dead and seven others wounded seriously when a mortar shell landed at Azam Warsak area in SWA on Monday.

Scuffle, boycotts mark Punjab Assembly session

Lahore — Members from Opposition benches walked out from the ongoing session of Punjab Assembly on Monday following a dispute with Treasury members. The members from both the benches scuffled with each other and exchanged hot words. Women MPAs from Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) also threw the budget copies on the Treasury benches.

Indian soldier killed in Poonch cross fire

Occupied Jammu— Firing from Pakistan’s side of Kashmir killed an Indian army soldier at a border post on Monday, a statement released by Indian police claimed. Basanth Rath, superintendent of police, said the incident occurred in Poonch area, nearly 155 miles northwest of Jammu.

Russia begins war games near Georgia

Moscow—Russia on Monday began war games in its North Caucasus region neighbouring Georgia, in a warning to foes that the military remains on standby for any new conflict in the area. Dubbed “Caucasus 2009”, the week-long exercises are just north of the border where Russia and Georgia fought a brief war last August over two breakaway pro-Moscow Georgian regions.
