World eager to help IDPs: Qureshi

Multan— Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi said here on Tuesday that the world is now eager to extend more economic assistance to Pakistan, instead of asking it to “Do more” in war against terrorism. Talking to media persons at the local airport, he said that at the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Russia, President Asif Ali Zardari and he himself held very useful talks with the leadership of several countries including Russia, Tajikistan and India.

UAF wins 9 scholarships for PhD in France

Faisalabad— French scientists Prof. Jean Francois Grongnet has said that University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) has won 9 competitive scholarships for the PhD studies at France. He was talking to the UAF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan while calling on him in his chamber on Tuesday. He added that due to its high standard of teaching and research as well as modern infrastructure UAF has lot of scope of international collaboration with international organizations.

Public advised to conserve energy

Peshawar—Chief Executive PESCO Muhammad Qasim Khan has asked the public to conserve electricity in the larger national interest so that the system may not get overloaded. He said that the consumers should adopt following proposals so that they may not face inconvenience. He said that we can overcome the energy crisis only with the help of customers, by conserving energy.

Swat to have 7 Tehsils, 14 police stations: Nadeem

Mardan— Director General National Support Group Lt. General Nadeem Ahmad has said that 7 Tehsils would be made in district Swat instead of 2 and police stations would be increased to 14.
