Lahore—A suicide car bomb blast at Rescue-15
building adjacent to CCPO Office have killed 23
people and injured over 230 on Wednesday. Twelve
policemen, a high official of security forces
Col. Amir Mirza Baig and a child were among the
victims while two bodies were beyond
recognition.
Muscat—Mr. Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, the
Foreign Minister of Oman, received Wednesday the
“Best-Governed Muslim State Award” on behalf of
H.M. Sultan Qaboos bin Said at a state ceremony
held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr.
Zahid Malik, Editor-in-Chief, Pakistan Observer,
presented the Award, which was instituted by
this prestigious newspaper in 2005 and it was
aimed at promoting good governance in the Muslim
world.

in Swat and FATA, militants are dispersing in
the cities. Baitullah Mehsud had threatened to
carryout attacks,” he said.
Peshawar—The security forces have gunned down 12
more militants in the ongoing operation in
Malakand agency amid reports of further
consolidating their position in Mingora
Wednesday besides clearing Madyan, Bagh Derai
and Kala kot, Sakhra Valley and important
heights west of Fathepur. A man in uniform
embraced Shahdat and three others sustained
injuries in action against the miscreants.
Lahore—Strongly condemning gruesome Lahore blast
in which more than 30 people dead, PML-N Chief
Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday underlined that Nation
must be united to pull country out of present
crises as dictatorship has given chronic wounds
to the country.
Islamabad—The National Economic Council (NEC)
due to meet on June 4 will finalise Pakistan’s
development budget 2009-10 with projection of 2
percent GDP growth for the current fiscal, a
senior official told Pakistan Observer.
