Pope calls for sovereign Palestinian state

Bethlehem, West Bank —Pope Benedict XVI told Palestinians on Wednesday he understands their suffering and supports their quest for a sovereign homeland, standing in the cradle of Christianity and offering his strongest public support yet for an independent Palestinian state.

Kashmiris praised for polls boycott

London—The voters in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been praised for keeping away from the ongoing parliamentary elections. Prof Nazir Ahmed Shawl, Executive Director of the London-based, Justice Foundation Kashmir Centre in a statement congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their candid rejection of these elections.

95 kids among 140 deaths in US-Taliban clash

Kabul—Ninety-five Afghan children are among the 140 people said to have died in a recent U.S.-Taliban battle in western Afghanistan, a lawmaker involved in the investigation into the deaths said Wednesday. The U.S. military disputed the claim.

SHIMON Peres only tells the truth by accident. He is a political impostor and a political sham. Like a traveling salesman offering a counterfeit product, the Israeli president is now peddling the merchandize called Benjamin Netanyahu. He presents to the world a Netanyahu we have never known: A peacemaker, the epitome of truthfulness, a man with no other ambition than to go down in history as the founder of the state of Palestine.Like a lackey walking in front of the king, strewing flowers on the road, Peres flew to the US to prepare the ground for Netanyahu’s coming visit. He imposed himself on a reluctant Barack Obama, who had no choice but to receive him.
