  Cricket match-fixing

Dr Abdul Ruff

India has made cricket a global farce with unflinching match-fixings. Match-fixing is secret of India. The Indian birthright and Indians have used increasingly to win toss and matches and also the series. The ODI in New Zealand these days is following a match-fixing script. India lost both 20/20 with New Zealand and immediately they woke up to make match fixing to win ODIs. And, India has been now successful after the match fixing with NL. It appears New Zealand did not keep words it gave to India to make India 400 plus but did keep its words by giving the pampered Sachuin 100 plus.

If promises are not kept poor India would be the loser and so India insists on high run rate in the beginning. India has also sent some players to play for New Zealand domestic as per the secret deal and New Zealand should make India win some ODIs so that both Australia and South Africa are hit badly. India has own ODI on Sunday the March 08, accordingly. Rest should be seen in near future if NL makes any patriotic moves or just make extra cash from Indian industrialists and government agencies and prefer to lose the credibility of their nation. These days the cricket mafia and global media support the Hindu Indian sportsmen, why?

India has used a liquor tycoon to spend money to “clinch” the used items of Indian freedom leader MK. Gandhi whom India sidelined soon after the Independence and Indian morality and legal estimates at lowest ebbs now. Patriotic Indians should protest against such bad guys in New Zealand and elsewhere. —Via email

  Political turmoil

Abbas Ali

The verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualifying Sharif Brothers, their outright rejection to accept and support of JI/ TI - both political parties of the country further fuelled their anger. They vowed to fight until the verdict is withdrawn and former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chowdhry is restored. They even asserted that now matter would be decided on the street by the people. This would further aggravate the situation.

It is well known to 160 millions people of Pakistan that the country is presently great uncountable problems from inside and outside. At this point of time, creating more problems will amount to pushing the country from the point of no return. It is therefore bounded responsibility of every citizen to play due role and ensure that no one can cast evil eyes on Pakistan. We have to be mindful of the fact that independence is an invaluable gift which requires unflinching love it which is possible only if we discard the habit of mudslinging and character assassination and truly love with our country and serve its people selflessly. May Allah guide us to steer our country on the path of progress and prosperity! —Karachi

  Slogan of change

Anjum Gul

Every politician needs a slogan for one’s election campaign to make it successful and Obama’s theme of election campaign was that what we actually want to listen that is ‘change’. People wanted change in America’s policies so they voted a black man to be a president of America for the very first time in its history. Although the ‘change’ in foreign policy cannot be made overnights, it needs to be evolved but we must acknowledge some of the immediate policy change measures of Obama. Americans have experienced all white men who could be the heads of the state; Result: America is an interventionist state. Now there is need to restore America’s image as a peace-loving country. Hence, American people have given a chance to a black man who may transform America’s black image into white.

Obama an elect-president of America, graduate of Colombia university and school of law has been doing noteworthy jobs prior to his presidentship. He worked on creation of legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds. He also worked on legislation regarding lobbying and electoral fraud ,climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for U.S. military personnels returning from combat assignments in Iraq and Afghanistan. No doubt he continued his posture of development strategies even after taking oath as 44th president of America. He pledged to overcome economic depression started in Wall Street and spreading across the global economy.

In this context he pledged to create new jobs for people in Washington. Not only this he also closed Guantanamo prison in Cuba, increased number of troops in Afghanistan to control the situation and pledged Pakistan to give $1.5 billion more in economic assistance annually for next ten years and military assistance and training to counter terrorist insurgencies in FATA and NWFP and other parts of Pakistan. Most importantly in order to engage Iran he asked to start talks with it unlike his predecessor who isolated the country. —Rawalpindi

  Swearing by God

S R H Hashmi

One thing that disturbs me quite often, and I am sure I am not alone in that, is the excessive swearing prevalent in our society. People indulge in it in quite a casual manner and do not mind even swearing by God (Khuda Ki Kasam) in television dramas, casual conversations, film songs etc., in full knowledge of the fact that what they are saying is untrue. They do not seem to think for a second that swearing by God is something serious and must not be treated as some sort of harmless activity that merely adds a bit of spice to the conversation and has no significance beyond that.

I am sure writers, poets and ordinary people can find ways to express their thoughts forcefully without having recourse to swearing. As it is, we commit enough sins, so there is just no point in adding to the inventory by committing this sacrilege, which is totally avoidable. —Karachi

  Advocacy of vested few

Nooure Zaman

Constitution suggests that President, governor are non-partisan positions: whether under 17th amendment, 58-2, Governor Raj. They cannot belong to any party or play naked politicos of divide and rule, buy others MP to form their party government. Every unconstitutional act and those abetting, advocating it are impeachable and liable under Article 6 I therefore strongly feel that President, Governor in Punjab must be impeached immediately along with PPP ministers, MQM.

Caretaker government of impartial patriots, with immaculate honest and incorruptible record in provincial set up, Independent Election Commission must be formed to hold elections in three months to get rid of liars, corrupts and bring stability to our democratic political system upholding rule of law. —Quetta

Blind opinion

GO Khan

Yaha Husseini opinion in a national English daily dated March of date seems to be purple blind. He did not see PPP kettle which is also blackened by NRO to cite only one instance. People know and so worker that PPP is no longer Benazir or Z A Bhuttos’ party which now owned by Mr Zardari. His earlier reputation and how he became President by breaching every national pledge, compromising with Musharraf, Pervaiz Elahi group whom Benazir Sahiba blamed to plan her murder, MQM who were responsible for bloodbaths of May,October,2007, back tracking on BB Sahibas’ publicly recognising restoration of deposed judges, priniciple of independent judiciary, COD, Bhurbhan etc only make Yahah Husseini diatribes against Nawaz Shairf appear adding fuel to fire of opportunism not friendly to national integrity ,solidarity and sovereignty. Can he trust liars to protect his country in the event of threats looming on us and poverty, misery many hundred times escalated in one year of PPP-Zardari misgovernance. Mr Husseini must consult some opticians. —Mardan
