22 militants killed in Bajaur Agency, Swat

Khar—As many as 7 militants were killed and several injured when security forces on Tuesday pounded the militants’ hideouts in different areas of Tehsil Mamond in Bajaur Agency.

According to details, security forces conducted operation against militants in Damadola, Badaan, Safray and Kaga areas of Tehsil Mamond and killed 7 militants and injured many others.

Security forces also destroyed 8 hideouts of the militants. A large number of people have started migration from Tehsil Mamond due to volatile situation there.

Meanwhile, at least fifteen miscreants were killed as security forces continued their operation against miscreants in Swat on Tuesday. Sources said forces targeted militants’ hideouts with heavy artillery in Tehsil Kabal and Matta overnight.

Unidentified miscreants gunned down Matta Tehsil’s Naib Nazim and injured three others in separate acts of violence in scenic Swat valley on Tuesday.

Sources said that some unknown gunmen shot dead Naib Nazim of Matta Tehsil, Liaquat Ali and wounded his aide that was shifted to hospital for medical treatment.

Besides, three other people, including a local currency dealer, sustained injuries after unknown assailant opened fire on them near Green Chowk area in Mangora. The injured were taken to the Saidu Sharif Hospital.

Kanju-Kabbal road is still closed to general traffic for the 15th straight day. The convoy of Provincial Minister for Labour Sher Azam was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb in Bannu, however, the Minister escaped unharmed in the attack.

According to police sources, a blast had been carried out with a remote-controlled bomb planted at Eidgah Road in Domel police station jurisdiction when Minister’s convoy was passing from the area. The Minister was expected to attend a function in the area.

US drones made low flights in tribal areas of Pakistan. According to sources, US drones made flights in North and South Waziristan created anger among the tribal. Local tribesmen opened fire at the US drones.
