Gen Kayani meets Turkish President
Rawalpindi—Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez
Kayani who is on a four- day official visit to Turkey met the
political and military leadership of Turkey here Wednesday.
General Kayani called on Turkish President Abdullah Gul and
discussed matters of mutual interest. Both sides reinforced long
term strategic relations between Pakistan and Turkey.
Chief of Army Staff also visited the tomb of great Turkish leader
Attaturk where he laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha.
Earlier, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited Land Forces
Headquartes where he was given a warm welcome. A smartly turned out
contingent of the Turkish Land forces presented him guard of honour.
Chief of Army Staff was given a detailed briefing on Turkish Land
Forces.
Later, he separately called on General S Isik Kosnar, Commander of
Turkish Land forces and General Mehmet Ilker Basbug, Chief of the
Turkish General Staff.
There was complete unanimity of views on matters of strategic and
professional interest. Both sides reiterated the need to further
enhance the special and time tested friendship between the two
countries.
Turkish Land Forces Commander also presented the Legion of Merit
Award to General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
