‘Ehl-e-Qalam Directory’launched

Islamabad—The Pakistan Academy of Letters on Wednesday launched
third edition of “Ehl-e-Qalam Directory” that carried literary works
of almost 3000 writers and researchers from different languages of
Pakistan.
The directory consisted of details of Pakistani Writers from all
Pakistani languages including are Urdu, Punjabi, Pashto, Sindhi,
Balochi, Seraiki, Hindko, Gojri, Balti, Brahvi, Chitrali, Sheena and
others..
While briefing the journalists Chairman PAL Iftikhar Arif hoped that
director would be helpful in promoting intellectual understanding
and harmony among people speaking different languages.
He said that the previous editions of the directory were published
in 1979 and 1994 respectively.
Iftikhar Arif further said that Pakistan Academy of Letters has
recently published “Wafiyat-e-Ehl-e-Qalam” by Dr. Muhammad Muneer
Ahmed Slatch that carried details about deceased Pakistani writers.
He said that the present edition of Directory is a draft edition and
rectification will be made in the final edition.
Worth mentioning that Anjuman Taraqi Urdu, Punjabi Adbi Board,
Sindhi Adbi Board, Pashto Academy, Institute of Sindhology, Seraiki
Adbi Board, Seraiki Adbi Majlis, Anjuman Taraqi Khawar, Ghous Bakhsh
Sabir, Dr.Tahir Tonsvi, Tariq Alam Abro, M.R.Shafaq, and literary
organizations and personalities assisted PAL in the preparation of
directory.
Iftikhar Arif hoped that this directory would be very useful not
only for writers and researcher but also for general public as well.
