Pakistani students win special award at Intel ISEF
2008

Islamabad—A group project titled “Novel Drug Therapy
of Silver Nano Particles to Cure M.R.S.A. Infections” by students
from Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karachi, Pakistan displayed
at the Intel ISEF 2008 held at Atlanta, Georgia, USA won the First
Award by the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
This was announced by the Society for Science & the Public, in
partnership with the Intel Foundation, at the Intel ISEF 2008
Special Awards Ceremony.
The winning team of the group project from Aga Khan Higher Secondary
School comprised of Arif Pyarali, Zahra Suleman Tejani and Sara Moez
Ali. Student winners are ninth through twelfth graders who earned
the right to compete by winning top prize at a local, regional,
state or national science fairs.
Special Awards are presented by nearly 70 scientific, professional
and educational organizations and include scholarships, summer
internships, book and equipment grants and scientific field trips.
The International Science and Engineering Fair is sponsored by Intel
and has been administered by Society for Science & the Public (SSP)
since its inception in 1950. SSP is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to the public engagement in scientific research and
education.
Its vision is to promote the understanding and appreciation of
science and the vital role it plays in human advancement: to inform,
educate, inspire.
