Zones established for fair distribution of gas to
industries
Gujranwala— The implementation on the Sui gas
pipeline agreement between Iran and Pakistan has started and the
pipeline would enter Pakistan from Khuzdar, Balochistan, stated by
Managing Director, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), Abdur
Rashid Lone.
He was addressing the members of Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (GCCI) here on Wednesday. The office bearers of the
chamber, officers of SNGPL, industrialists and traders were present
on the occasion.
“In order to ensure the provision of gas to industry, we have to
reduce the use of heaters and geysers during winters”, he stressed,
adding that the use of superior quality gas appliances can also help
reduce its use. Referring to growing number of CNG stations, MD,
SNGPL said that during winter season either the tariff of CNG
stations would be changed or directions be issued to temporarily
shut down the stations for three months.
He said that zones have been established to ensure judicious
distribution of Sui gas to the industries of Lahore, Gujranwala and
Faisalabad. He further said that facilities have also been offered
to small industry, saying they can pay their bills in installments
and thus get continued supply of gas.
Regarding the complaints of “low pressure” of Sui gas at factories
situated at Sheikhupura road, he assured it would be redressed in
one month. Earlier, president GCCI Riaz Mahmood Bajwa presented
welcome address and highlighted the problems faced by the local
industrialists and traders. —APP
