Government to restore law, order: Marri

Karachi—Sindh Minister for Information, Ms. Shazia Marri, has said the government of Sindh is striving hard to restore law and order in the province and the people have to help the government for the restoration of writ of law and development of a peaceful society.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, she referred to the incident which took place in the city wherein the people showed anger against criminal elements, and said “these are the results of nine- year- long undemocratic regime of the last government.”
The Minister said the people have lost confidence over public institutions, because the basic rights of people were denied.
She said the large scale unemployment caused raise is crime rate and such trends.
Ms. Shazia Marri stated that the Sindh Government is taking steps to curb such incidents and ensure the restoration of law and order so that the people can trust the public institutions for which the present government is determined to make public institutions stronger.
She appealed to the people to not take law into their hands and help government to enable it to control these types of ill trends of society.
The Minister assured that in depth investigation will be carried out to ascertain the causes of these incidents.
She said as a result of police’s unsatisfactory response over a firing spree near her home, she had gone to the Gizri Police station, the other day, to register a complaint which she did.
Shazia said unfortunately those posted at the police stations were not available there.She said the posting of a new SHOs is a step in the right direction of making police stations more effective and revamping the police department.
She also laid emphasis on the need of having more sensitised police officers as opposed to the insensitive and non- sensitised ones.
The Minister appreciated the role of well performing police officers who realise their duty towards the people.
She also paid tribute to those police officers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and their sacrifices are a source of inspiration for all other police personnel, she said.—APP
