Motorway Police recovers 23 trucks loaded with wheat
Vigilance teams to ensure smooth flour supply in Capital

Islamabad—Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmed has constituted three vigilance teams consisting of Assistant Commissioners and Magistrates to ensure smooth availability of 20 kg flour bags at the control rate in the city and rural areas of Islamabad.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmed told that ICT Administration is in constant touch with the flour mills while mill owners have been directed to ensure smooth supply of flour bags in Islamabad.
He further told that ICT Administration has also launched mobile service and ten trucks loaded with flour bags would be despatched to the city and rural areas on daily basis to meet the demands of the Community in any area.
Moreover, Deputy Commissioner said that Chief Commissioner Islamabad Hamid Ali Khan is also in touch with the government of Punjab for ensuring smooth supply of Wheat to the flour mills of Islamabad.
ICT Administration has requested government of Punjab to ensure the smooth supply of Wheat to the flour mills of Islamabad to avert any problematic situation, he added.
On Wednesday, Assistant Commissioner (Sadar) Malik Afsar Khan, Magistrate (Sadar) Liaqat Abbassi Assistant Commissioner (City) Maryam Khan, City Magistrate Farasat Ali Khan, magistrate Kamran Cheema along with District Food Controller ICT and revenue staff. Naib Tehsildar Imtiaz Janjua conducted checking of flour mills and markets and ensured the availability of flour bags in the markets at the fixed rates.
Smuggling Bid foiled: National Highways & Motorway Police has foiled attempts of smuggling wheat and flour through motorways and recovered 23 trucks loaded with 3450 Bags of Flour and wheat, which were being transported illegally from Punjab to NWFP.
As per detail, during routine patrolling near Sukheki on Motorway, Police officers SPO Atif Nawaz, SPO Muhammad Imran, SPO Aman Ullah and PO Qamar Hussain Qadri observed that 13 trucks were entering the motorway by cutting the fence from various places.
They were intercepted and it revealed that they were carrying wheat and flour, which was being smuggled to Peshawar. Motorway Police arrested all the culprits and took the trucks into its custody.
In another incident, Motorway police stopped three trucks which were carrying wheat, to smuggle it. The drivers of trucks were arrested and trucks taken into custody.
Then near Khan Ka Dogran, Motorway police intercepted two more trucks also smuggling wheat to Peshawar. Still in another incident, motorway police officers SPO Allah Dad and PO Noor Muhammad stopped two trucks bearing loaded with wheat, running from Pindi Bhattian to Peshawar truck entered motorway from Pindi Bhattian Interchange without getting entry card, which was stopped by NH&MP officers SPO Muhammad Iqbal and it revealed that wheat was being smuggled from Pindi Bhattian to Hari Pur.
The Motorway Police handed over the arrested smugglers along with the recovered trucks and wheat to the concerned local Police legal action and investigation.
