Hazrat Zainab remembered for perseverance, courage
Staff Reporter
Islamabad—The Federal Minister for Local Government and Rural
Development, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour has said that the greatest jihad is
to speak truth before a tyrant, and Syeda Zainab did just that,
which enhances her stature to great heights.
He was speaking as a chief guest at the conference, which was
organized on the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zainab, grand-daughter
of the Prophet Muhammad(PBUH), and the sister of Hazrat Imam Hussain,
who sacrificed life along with his companions on the battlefield of
Karbala for upholding the cause of Islam.
The conference was organized by the Al-Noor Welfare Trust, in
collaboration with the Markazi Imam Hussain Council here on
Wednesday.
He said that those who remained loyal to the companions and
descendants of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) were glorified,
while those who were hostile to the clan of the Prophet suffered
obscurity and degeneration.
Speaking on the occasion, renowned scholar Allama Iftikhar Hussain
Naqvi said in his presidential address that all Muslims acknowledge
the sacrifices rendered by the clan of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) for
upholding Islam, which was threatened by the devilish forces of
Yazid and his sycophants.
He said that Syeda Zainab was the continuation of that movement,
which was launched by the last Prophet for weaning the ignorant away
from ignorance. He stressed the dominant characteristic of her
personality: unshakeable faith in Almighty Allah and fearlessness to
say no in the face of a tyrant.
Mr. Ghazanfar Mehdi, a religious scholar, criticized the approach of
the people, who try to sum up the supreme character of Hazrat Zainab
in few words. He pointed out that Mothers’ day was celebrated across
the country few days back, but not a single mention was made of
Syeda Zainab, who was a great mother.
Chairman Islamic Ideology Council, Dr Khalid Masood stressed in his
address the supreme sacrifice given by the blood relations of the
Holy Prophet for the continuation of the religion, which was
propounded by him.
