Doctors demo for independence of judiciary
Staff Reporter
Islamabad—A large number of doctors of all specialities including
young medical officers held peaceful demonstration outside the
premises of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) here
Wednesday.
They wore black armbands and carried placards with slogan in favour
of restoration of Judges and freedom of media. The demonstration
lasted for about 45 minutes. The time was chosen not to affect
patient care. The placards carried the following messages: No
Justice, No Pakistan. We demand Freedom of Media and the made
hostage by State Terrorism. And “Adalia Lahoo Lahoo (Justice is
bleeding)
The doctors said that their struggle will continue till the
restoration of the judiciary to the level of November 2. They do not
accept PCO judges. All those who supported Musharraf’s illegal moves
have participated in high treason. Arresting Judges and taking
hostage of the judiciary is the biggest contempt of the court in the
history of mankind. They were of the view that Musharraf is an
illegal President as he has no mandate of the people. In fact all
five assemblies have passed verbal thunderous verbal Vote of No
Confidence in him as is well captured by all media. A large number
of female doctors including consultants actively participated. The
Doctors decided that they will spread this protest throughout
country at medical colleges and other hospitals. This is not
politics. If there is no justice, simple there will be no country.
No issue is more serious and critical than having independent
judiciary, which would be a check on all sorts of corruption and
frauds. The Doctors decided to hold protest weekly instead of daily
demonstrations till restoration of all judges including Ch. Iftikhar
Ahmad as Chief Justice of Pakistan. Every Wednesday Insha Allah a
peaceful demonstration will be held at 2:00- 2:30 p.m.
Prof. Anwar ul Haque president Pakistan Doctors Forum said that the
Doctors will Insha Allah begin a signatory movement throughout the
country. Signatures will be collected for restoration of all Judges.
The petition will be also placed on Website so that people all over
the world can sign the petition on internet.
