Islamabad—Federal Ministers belonging to
Pakistan Muslim League-N formally tendered their
resignations to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza
Gilani, on Tuesday as per the decision by the
Party to quit the Cabinet following disagreement
over the issue of judges. However an official at
the PM House said the Prime Minister has not yet
accepted the resignations and told the Ministers
that final decision about the resignations will
be taken on return home of the Pakistan People’s
Party co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari from London.
Washington—US President George W. Bush Monday
warned Iran and Syria that the international
community would not allow Lebanon to fall under
foreign domination again, as he vowed to shore
up the Lebanese army.
Jaipur—A series of bombs tore through crowded
markets in the Indian tourist city of Jaipur
late Tuesday, killing at least 70 people in what
police said was a terror attack. One of the
bombs went off near a Hindu temple, leaving
blood splattered on the street and cycles and
rickshaws in a mangled heap, television showed.
Washington —The United States has said the
issues relating to Supreme Court judges’
restoration and political arrangements are
matters for Pakistanis to decide and reaffirmed
Washington’s resolve to work with the
government,
Commenting on coalition partner PML-N’s
announcement regarding withdrawal of its
ministers from the federal cabinet over judges’
restoration issue, a State Department official
said US, “general interest is that “we want to
see the Pakistan government working with all the
parties to act in the best interests of the
Pakistani people.”
Islamabad—Awami National Party (ANP) Tuesday
urged both the PPP and PML-N to continue
cooperation with each other and put their
energies together for strengthening the
institutions and making the judiciary
independent.

that both the coalition partners should have
been avoided giving deadlines on judges
restoration, as this can effect smooth working
of the government.
Sheikhupura—At least 25 speeding vehicles in a
row came crashing near interchange here
perishing lives of six persons and leaving
several injured.
Punjab Governor’s sister and brother-in-law were
also included among the dead. Motorway Police
said that this mishap occurred near Sheikhupura
interchange on the Lahore-Islamabad Highway,
when two cars clashed and later one bus truck
and several vehicles coming from behind kept
crashing in a row, which resulted in the death
of 6 persons and 50 were wounded. Over 25
vehicles were wrecked.
Baghdad—A fragile cease-fire failed to stop
fighting in Baghdad’s Sadr City where the latest
clashes between Shiite extremists and
U.S.-backed Iraqi forces killed 11 men and
wounded 19, Iraqi hospital officials said
Tuesday.
Islamabad—Sindh High Court (SHC) acquits
Pakistan People’s Party Co-chairman Asif Ali
Zardari and former High Commissioner to UK Wajid
Shasmul Hassan in container case. A single bench
of Sindh High Court headed by Justice Bin Yameen
gave the verdict Tuesday on a review petition
filed by Asif Ali Zardari’s lawyer.
Islamabad—People’s Party sources confirmed
reports that a known business personality and a
close friend of PPP co-Chairman Asif Zardari may
be asked to assume the position of Advisor of
Finance following resignation by PML-N’s Ishaq
Dar. Other reports name a top banker as the
possible contender for the top economic slot
which has presumed extra importance particularly
at a time when budget is knocking at the doors.
