Monitoring arrangements tightened to stop illegal
wheat movement
Lahore—Food Minister Punjab Malik Nadeem Kamran has
said that monitoring arrangements at 23 check posts have been
further enhanced in order to stop illegal movement of wheat and
these check posts would remain functional during whole year. Persons
involved in illegal movement would be dealt with iron hand without
any discrimination. He said that food department has procured 18
lakh 35 thousand 424 metric tons wheat whereas two crore 40 lakh
eight thousand 972 bags of bardana has been provided to the farmers.
While reviewing the ongoing wheat procurement campaign and illegal
movement of wheat, he said that food department would soon meet its
targets. Provincial Minister, while discussing details about
procurement said that 197534 metric ton wheat has been procured from
Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Okara.
Likewise, 223266 from Gujranwala, Sialkot and Gujrat, 250070 from
Fasialabad, Toba Tek Singh and Jhang, 110795 from Sargodha, Mianwali
and Bhakkar, 322733 from Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, Sahiwal, Pakpattan
and Khanewal, 775 from Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal,
270816 from D.G. Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajan pur and Layyah and 459436
metric ton wheat has been procured from Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and
Rahim Yar Khan.
Malik Nadeem Kamran, while discussing “bardana” position, told that
2327388 (100 KG) bags has been provided to the farmers of Lahore,
Sheikhupura, Kasur and Okara. Likewise, 2586131 to Gujranwala,
Gujrat and Sialkot, 3468582 to Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh and Jhang,
1545134 to Sargodha, Mianwali and Bhakkar, 4072016 to Multan,
Lodhran, Vehari, Sahiwal, Pakpattan and Khanewal, 3887476 to D.G.
Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur and Layyah, 16949 to Rawalpindi, Attock,
Jhelum and Chakwal whereas 6105296 bags has been distributed among
the farmers belonging to Bahawalpur, Bhawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan
