PPP government believes in supremacy of law: Qaim
Karachi—Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah
Sunday said that the government of Pakistan Peoples Party believes
in supremacy of law and restoration of democracy.
“We have made long struggle under the leadership of Shaheed
Quaid-e-Awam, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Quaid Mohtarma Benazir
Bhutto to achieve this target”, this he said during a meeting with
36-member delegation of Sindh Bar Council, who called on him at CM
House here.
He said that the Constitution of 1973 will be restored in its true
spirit and fundamental rights of the people will be protected.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that he himself belongs to lawyers
fraternity and the interests of the lawyers’bodies and Bar
Associations will be guarded.
He said that all of us, particularly our martyred leader late Ms.
Benazir Bhutto had presented many sacrifices, even she had
sacrificed her life in struggle for democracy.
He said that the struggle will continue for supremacy of law,
independent of judiciary and for complete restoration of 1973
Constitution.
Sindh Chief Minister announced that residential colonies will be
built for lawyers in districts in Sindh Province.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said besides stay facilities, libraries and books
will also be given to lawyers while efforts will be made for
provision of loans to lawyers.
To a suggestion about construction of courts in Karachi at one
place, Sindh Chief Minister said in respect of courts the city is
comprised of five districts. For resolution of this matter a
comprised is constituted, which will prepare its suggestions in the
light of facts, he noted.
The Chief Minister said that government will help Bar Associations
and Bar Councils.
He said that on the recommendation of Provincial Law Minister the
lawyers will be provided armed licenses.
He informed that the buildings of judiciary will be repaired and
will have better facilities.
Sindh Chief Minister said that appointment will be made on the
vacant post of Judges in Nawabshah and Sanghar so that people can
get justice.
He also presented a cheque amounting to Rs one million to the office
bearers of Sindh Bar Council for the Bar on behalf of Sindh
Government.
Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Minister for Law and Parliamentary
Affairs, Ayaz Ahmed Soomro said that Sindh government has given
approval of grants of Rs 500,000 each for District Bar Associations,
Rs 200,000 each for Tehsil Bar Associations while Rs one million
each for Sindh Bar and Karachi Bar Association.
He said that a scheme for provision medical cover to the lawyers was
under consideration while they will also be given representation in
the courts.
Ayaz Soomro said that role of the lawyers was honorable and
unforgettable. The cause of all of us is same, which is, he said is
to serve the province and the country.—APP
