Agreement signed to benefit students of QAU

Islamabad—A formal agreement has been signed between Quaid-i- Azam University Islamabad and Quaid-i-Azam University Alumni Association Pakistan to extend cooperation for the benefit of the present and old students of Quaid-i- Azam University Islamabad.
In this regard, formal ceremony was held at Islamabad Club Islamabad. According to the MoU, both organizations agreed to extend cooperation with one another in following ways and areas.
It was decided that QAU Alumni Association would offer certain Need Based Scholarships to the students of QAU Islamabad. QAU Islamabad would establish a separate head for these offered scholarships as on the pattern of Dr. Razi-u-din Siddiqui Scholarship Programme. Any student who gets education at QAU from remote and hard areas of Pakistan would be financially supported by QAU Alumni Association.
QAU Alumni Association would also assist the students of QAU in career counseling and job placement. Both the organizations would stay in touch with another to undertake different welfare programme for the benefit of present and former students of QAU Islamabad. Both the organizations would create the linkage of on their respective organizations on websites.
Speaking on the occasion, Murtaza Noor Secretary General QAU Alumni Association highlighted the main achievement of the Alumni during the last five years and informed the participants that it has organized four annual dinners, spring gala several get together and published two editions of directory of the members and it has also initiated various programme for the welfare of the present students of QAU Islamabad
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim Jan, Vice Chancellor Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad who graced the occasion as Chief Guest briefed about the different initiatives undertaken by university administration for faculty, institutional development and promotion of research culture.
He informed that due to strong academic programmes and sound research base, Quaid-i-Azam University has been rated No.1 in 2006 by HEC and second in research in OIC universities. QAU has published 7,500 papers and many dozen books.—APP
