Group show portrays wild life, landscapes

Staff Reporter

Islamabad—A group show featuring landscapes and images of wild life was opened here Friday at Tanzara Art Gallery with a display of 39 paintings.
Three artistes, Raja Najm-ul-Hassan, Atiquah Abbasi and Samina Jamshed came up with some eye-catching images of the various parts of Pakistan, which underlined the fact that all three of them had a strong obsession for the local landscape. Another highlight of the exhibition were the paintings of leopards and lions, which were also appreciated by the viewers.
Raja Najm-ul-Hassan, the artist from Chakwal, demonstrated through his landscapes his immense attachment with his native town. Mustard colour figured prominently in his works; as many of his works centred round the mustard flowers in their full splendour.
One of his works narrated the story of his journey to the Gawadar city, where he was fascinated by the sand of the beach and the sea waves merging with it to form the beautiful combination of colours. Based in Dubai, these days, the artist found a striking similarity between the beaches of Dubai and Gawadar. This he communicated through his art works. His works reflected the tranquility of nature.
Samina Jamshed, the young artist, displayed innovation in the use of her techniques. Influenced by her art mentor, Raja Changez Sultan, the artist has made the name for herself in drawing the landscapes, and her art works gave the feeling of vigour and energy.
