Every citizen should play role for conservation of energy: Ijaz

Islamabad—Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) in a statement here Friday said that every Pakistani should make contribution for energy conversation to bring Pakistan out of energy crises. He said that there is a short fall of more than 3000 MW of electricity in the country, due to which our industries are not running at full potential, and under this situation our exports are badly suffered and exporters are unable to meet the export orders right on time as well. Ijaz Abbasi, said that it is the duty of every citizen of Pakistan to save electricity for the nation. He suggested that in houses unnecessary lights should be switched off because this will help in saving energy for the use of industries.
He said that Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry has advised its members of the business community to avoid illuminating extra lights and switch off neon lights of bill boards of the shop displays. He said that unnecessary lights in the markets areas should not be on, and shopkeepers must ensure to use minimum lights in the markets. He said that it has also been observed that the lights in the streets and parks often remain on, which should be switched after a specific time. He said that in some new housing societies, heavy lights are used to attract the customers and request the government for making legislation in this regard. President said that government should also focus to control the electric line losses, which are about 30% at present. He said that the main reason of the line loses is the old electric system and theft the electricity by the people.
Ijaz Abbasi emphasized the government for building small and large dams for the generation of electricity, because the heavy load shut down, have created great problems for all segments of the society. He said that the people whom businesses are directly linked with the electricity are the biggest sufferers of the load shutdown and even it has become difficult for them to earn their livelihood.
