Durrani asks KBCA to enforce building by-laws

Karachi—Local Government Minister, Agha Siraj Durrani has said that KBCA has set an example by recovering revenues more than the target and thus attained the desired goals. Other government organizations too, who show losses every year, should follow the example of KBCA, the Minister said adding that efforts would be made to enforce uniform building bylaws to maintain city’s historic and beauty.
He was addressing the KBCA officers at a departmental briefing held at KBCA on Friday. On the occasion Chief Controller Manzoor Kadir apprised the Minister about the Authority’s performance. Senior Controllers Ateeq Baig, Agha Maqsood Abbas, Mohammed Shafiq and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Agha Siraj Durrani expresses satisfaction over KBCA’s performance and assured it of all cooperation on behalf of the government. He directed that illegal constructions and encroachments should be checked at their very initial stages to make the city more beautiful.
He called for ensuring compulsory space for parking, availability of fire fighting equipment and emergency exists to meet any emergency. The Minister said that KBCA’s complaint centre be made more functional to redress public complaints and it should submit weekly report about its performance.
He appreciated the KBCA for minimising the problems of people wanting to construct their houses along with immediate approval of their plans as well as providing expertised consultation.
The Minister called upon the KBCA employees and officials to further improve their working and thus take the name of their organization to new heights. He said such staffers would be given promotions and incentives.
He announced that justice will be provided to the families of those employees of KBCA who passed away. He assured that Chief MInister’s approval would be obtained for getting allocation of land forKBCA’s approved housing society. KBCA, he pointed out, is part of Sindh Government and previously also had been its part and a wrong done would not be given legal status. Agha Siraj Durrani said that supremacy of construction laws would be ensured.—APP
