Nazim to be consulted for KWSB budget: Durrani

Karachi—Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani has said that City Nazim Karachi would be consulted for preparing Karachi Water and Sewerage Board’s new budget, while inquiry committee had been constituted to review illegal recruitment by caretaker system in the board.
Addressing the first meeting of Board of Directors as Chairman Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) on Thursday, he said that water supply and sewerage system would be improved by equipping KWSB with modern technology.
The minister was briefed that the Water Board would take charge of hydrants within days after a gap of eight years. MD Water Board requested the minister to establish a police station at Water Board premises on the lines of KESC police. The minister assured the board officials of taking legal actions in collaboration of Home Department against the people, who were running illegal hydrants or had illegal water connections.
Durrani also ordered to ensure water supply to Lyari and adjoining areas with immediate effects. He said that deduction in local government funds was made by federal government but the issue would be resolved soon.
